My wide variety of interests led to the development of Rockin' Scotty's info Center. Here's a brief trek down memory lane - Rode bicycle shortly before 4th birthday, started driving mini-bikes at 5, have always loved 2 wheelers - At 13, drove fathers Lincoln Mark IV with dad on board from Annapolis, MD to home 50 miles away. What a sweet ride, sunroof, power everything, leather seats, huge motor, was pimpin' big time. - Acquired Diver Certification in Key Largo FL from Captn' Slate. Watched him hand feed his pet barracuda, stroke his pet eel and had a fantastic time. Favorite dive was in Hawaii in 1999 down to a US mine sweeper near Pearl Harbor which I understand got demolished in a storm several years later. - Started working at Cable and Wireless Communications in Tyson's Corner, VA. My interest in computers was revitalized. Worked swing several years while I earned my BS Degree from the University of Maryland in Business Administration (Concentration in Marketing) and a minor in psychology. These were some tough years with the entire Len Bias situation. I'm forever a MD boy...Fear the Turtle. Many years later my niece was a cheerleader for Maryland when they won the men's Basketball Championship in 2002...how cool! Her'e's a nice YouTube tribute. - Created my first web page to solely to facilitate information sharing for my fantasy football league which was created in 1989, I believe one of the first. The WFFL is still intact today with many of its founding members. Many many Tues nights with the Washington post covering the floor reading box scores and adding up numbers is enough to make one come up with an alternate solution. This foray into the Web would forever pique my interest. - Acquired Private Pilots license in 40Hotel at Gaithersburg airport, you never forget your first solo, what a thrill. Too many beautiful and exciting flights to list. I love talking planes with other pilots. Chuck Yeager is a personal hero. - After playing guitar for many yeas and endless garage jamming sessions I decided to get serious and formed the Rock Band 'Minimum Balance'. We played for several years in North Va. circuit, released CD in 1995. We warmed up for Foghat at JAXX in Springfield that same year. - Discovered NASCAR racing by Papyrus, things would never be the same. Lodestar Racing was born when I hooked up with my teammate Shane Ewing. - Volunteered with wife as a trail overseer of a section of the Appalachian Trail, Bootens Gap to Bear Fence Rock Scramble. I love hiking and being outdoors. Being in touch with nature definitely feeds the soul. - Wrote a weekly column for on-line publication FrontStetch.com. I had a blast doing this part time gig and learned a lot. The gang over there was very open minded and fantastic to work with. - After honing driving skills on-line and attending many racing schools (Dover, Concord, Charlotte, Rockingham) started racing stock cars at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Va. - Re-thought my political affiliation after listening to a lot of talk radio and analyzing my opinion in greater depth and having a more long term outlook for well being of my local community, state, and country. - Started own IT business installing networks and software training for Small Businesses - Moved to Vermont, a great place to raise kids....taxes, not so good. - Launched Rockin Scotty's homepage and wrote '25 Days of Daytong', a 30,000 word mini-novel which was published daily on Jayski.com. A site second only to NASCAR.com as a fan site and thought more hard hitting than the latter mentioned. - Began Teaching Motorcycle Safety for the state of Vermont. There is no better place to ride a bike even if the season is limited. - With daughter approaching 15 and his love for cars and driving the situation melded together and inspired the book 'So You Want the Keys to the Car?' which is currently in the works. Its to facilitate parents and new drivers on how to approach this very important topic from a race car drivers perspective. - Another idea for a book launched on one of the 210 trips I've made from Vermont to Maryland over the years having family in both locations. It's appropriately titled From 'Burlington to Baltimore'. - Launched Rockin' Scotty's Info Center in effort to provide Ten Top Articles a Day for those tired of sorting through endless RSS feeds and multiple sites. It's an easy stop for some great reading. If you want a good slice of today, stop by and check us out. - So far has eluded death on 17 occasions, "Keep your fingers crossed for me would ya?"
